Office Entry

An office entry doesn’t need to look commercial. Since this office was once a home and has so much historic charm, we kept the charm and added office elements.

The same as the rest of the house, the carpet had to be torn out, the walls needed skim coated, primed and painted, and the floors needed refinished.  All cosmetic things I love!

The steps could have used a professional refinishing job but instead, we used an orbital sander to simply clean them up and then put a fresh coat of stain on them.  As seen fit, a runner may be added down the road.

One of the main issues in planning this space was finding a purpose for it.  It’s a large entry with an office to the right and conference room to the left.  So we minimally furnished it.  A hand built desk is centered and can be used when extra people are working.  Since it’s not an everyday desk, we decorated it with a large floral arrangement.

Instead of standard wood mailboxes, I found something a little more decorative.  I also chose a colorful entry rug to keep the office more friendly and less commercial.
